Super Secret New Series

What I’m Working On

The Chronicles of Daphne Blazefire series has reached 10 books, and I’m ending that series at that point. If you’ve read the final book, “To End the Silence,” you’re probably scratching your head at my announcement. For those who have not read that book yet, you’re wondering why I said that…

Let me clear this all up. When I was writing To End the Silence, I discovered that the story was too deep to fit into one book. Oh, I had originally intended to do that, back when I had nothing but a blurb to work with and just a hazy idea about how the book would be written. After I finished writing the book, I realized that I had a theme (and a really good theme) that could take my story much further. In fact, it’s going to take another 10 books to get through that underlying theme (you’ll have to read the last book to figure out what I’m talking about, because I don’t want to give any spoilers).

Right now, I’m 52,000 words into the first book of this new series. I don’t have a name solidified, and I only have a possible series title. Which is why I haven’t posted anything yet. However, it’s been two weeks since I did a blog post, and I’m getting an uptick of people searching this website for hints of what’s happening. Probably from those who have been reading the series for some time and just finished the last book. I went a full year (actually longer if you include previous series books) of posting the widget with progress of my latest WIP, and now there’s no widget.

No widget, no news… that must mean Frank is on a hiatus, right? Wrong. I have been burning both ends of the candle to get words down on this next story. I am cranking out an average of 4,000 words per day right now. I’m achieving that by putting in 9,000-word days on weekends and whatever extra I can get over my 2,000-word weekday quota. I’m hoping for an end-of-June, beginning-of-July publishing date. Oh, and I’m planning books that will be 90,000 to 100,000 words long. Which means the stories are more complex.

I’ll need to take some time to noodle over the book and series title, then order a cover, and I need to do it soon. Then I’ll put the widget back up and re-establish the “books in progress” web page.

Then I’ll make an “official” announcement and set an expected publish date.
