Writing Progress

My big secret new series is still in the planning stage. I have about 6k words written for the first book and 6k words for the accompanying free book. The free book will probably end up at 20k words or maybe more. I’m shooting for 90k for the first novel. The planning part of this is tricky and I thought that maybe I could produce a small side book while I was still working on the details of this series.

Sooo, I grabbed a writing prompt with the intent of writing a 5-10k short story and it came out to 25k with the potential of a full novel. Yes, I’ve already written 25k words. To top it off, I already have a cover as well as six additional novel ideas for a series.

That’s right, I turned a writing prompt into a series. Oh, and seven books is probably just the tip of the iceberg. I already finished the outline for the second book. The series will be published as a chronicle instead of a series. Which means that you can read them in any order. Except, I built up my female protagonist and her sidekick in the first book. It’s a light-hearted fun story, with no swear words. I cleverly substituted all the “bad” words with humorous replacements. I’ll be targeting the YA audience, but technically a lot of adults (like me) read YA books. Especially when the story is fun.

I’m working to add a few more scenes to the first book to form the story into a full-length novel. When I’m close to being done, I’ll post the cover and blurb on this blog site and announce the release date. The announcement should be in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I’ll still be working out the ugly details of my other series. That one will be somewhat gritty and I’ll be leaving in all the swear words. The twists in the story are going to go deep. Hence, the reason it takes so long to plan.

Stay tuned.
