Frozen Logic

I’ve written over 6,000 words for the new Chronicles of the Robot Whisperers book. I ordered a cover for the book, which should be available in early August. I also ordered a cover for Dust Bargain, which is book 8 of the Daphne Blazefire series. Once I receive a cover, I’ll create a thumbnail version and put the progress widget up on the blog. Then, as always, you can track my progress in real-time.

Starting a completely new book series takes a lot of extra effort. I’m still figuring out the characters and their personalities. Once I complete the first book, it should go more easily for the next. The Daphne stories contain characters I’ve used in previous books, and I know them well. So, I don’t have to reference my notes on how they act or what their backgrounds are.

The Chronicles of the Robot Whisperers will be stories with no swear words, no sex scenes, clean fun, like the Daphne series. It’ll have a little more grittiness to it, but it won’t be a dystopian type of storyline. Expect humor. Of course. Also, expect some mystery, adventure, some deaths and injuries, but no gore or horror. There won’t be any supernatural stuff either. Just robots, androids, and cyborgs. I’m hoping to appeal to the same audience that reads the Daphne series, which means that the subgenres of these books will match the subgenres Daphne falls under. If the first book does well, then there will be more. If not, then it’ll just end up as a stand-alone while I noodle on another series, which is why I’m focusing on Chronicles right now and not a tightly-connected series. Once I start a series, I’m committed. I can cut off a chronicle at any point. Any books written are still readable (i.e., there won’t be an unfinished ending hanging out there).
