I have started the fifth book of the series. My outline is complete. I am still mulling over a title for this book. As soon as I decide upon a title, I’ll put together a cover and post it here. I’m about 90% sure this will be the last book of the series. With that said, I have plans to leave a potential continuation of the story. Judging by the amount of time it takes me to write and edit a book, I would say this one will be available in early January. However, I have plans to push myself a little harder to get this out by mid-December. Here’s to hopin’ the stars align!
- Current rough draft word count: 68,189 as of 11/25
- Edit story structure – done
- Edit for “show don’t tell”, awkward sentences, etc. – done.
- Edit for grammar and spelling (multiple passes) – done.
- Prepare book for Amazon Kindle (Paperback and eBook). – eBook is Live! Paperback in progress.
Update 11/18/2021
I am deep into the editing of the book and expect it to be available the first week of December. Here is a sneak peek at the tentative cover and title (I adjusted the position of the dropship to prevent title overlap):
Other notes: This will complete this series, but… there is an opening for a continuation of the story in a new series. Also, there are many potential spin-off stories that could I write in the future. Including a series of stories that could occur when humans first ran into the Arcnal civilization. I have specifically set up Mac’s daughter to be a protagonist in future stories. Then there’s Mac himself. Will he be advanced to Admiral? Not a chance! Anyone who has seen the sequence of Star Trek movies knows the mistake they made by turning Captain Kirk into an Admiral. That was painful.
I have two rough outlines for a prequel to this series. Unfortunately, I’m not happy with either one. So, I’ll just keep hashing out ideas for the prequel book and someday I’ll start writing that one.
