I’m neck-deep into this story right now. It’s a beast. I have about 120ish scenes set up for it. My normal-sized novels are usually 60 scenes. There is also the likelihood that I’ll add more scenes as I see the need. I’m into the book’s second half with almost 70k words, so progress is being made on the rough draft. There is also some work with the ink drawings and temples that’ll go into the Tome. There’s still quite a bit of detail work that has to go into that stuff and I’m working it in while writing the story so I can put pieces of this into the story. Keeping my fingers crossed that readers love this story. There is so much material that I have available for the rest of the series that I don’t know how I could shorten it if the first book fails.
I ran a Facebook Ad for the Daphne series. I tried different variations of Ads to see what would work. I managed to get a ton of clicks but only two sales. Ads are not going to find the audience for that series. I’ll have to let those books ride for the time being. Maybe they’ll get discovered as I sell newer books. That’s about all I’m going to say about Daphne for a while.
Desperate Action is still on sale for 99 cents. If you’re even remotely interested in that story, I would recommend grabbing it while it’s cheap. The reviews on it are excellent, so I have a good gut feeling about that book. I’ll probably set up a Facebook Ad for that book and take the loss just to get people into the story. Then, when the second book arrives, I’ll get an idea of the popularity of the story (or rather, how many people read the entire first book and were ready for the next one). I’ll have to come up with a cover for the second book pretty soon. After I write the second book, which already has a rough outline, then I’ll know for sure how the series will do. If it’s not great, then I’ll cap off the series with a third and make it a trilogy. Otherwise, I have a lot of material to work with including a possible follow-on series that goes back in time to when the aliens first attacked.
I’ll keep posting updates. If you want to watch my progress on The Demons, you can go to the Books In Progress page and check on the number of words written so far. I update that information every day.
