So, today is Juneteenth, which for me means it’s a bank holiday. For those who don’t know, I work as a software engineer for a credit union called Mountain America. We get all those crazy government holidays off… like Pioneer Day. If you’re not from Utah, you’ve probably never heard of that holiday. If you live in Utah, you know all about Pioneer Day and how it’s as big as the 4th of July. But Pioneer Day isn’t until July 24th, so that’s an upcoming holiday. Today is the 19th of June, and we’re celebrating Juneteenth.
Anyway, enough of the rambling… I’m utilizing this day to catch up on my writing. I’ve managed to fall behind by about a week. When we returned from our vacation, we managed to catch a bad cold, and that put me out for a few days. Then, it was tough to get my daily writing quota back up. I’ll never be able to make up all the missed words, but I can still put a pretty good dent in the total today. I’m shooting for an 8k day.
I had to stop to write this post. It’s been too long since I wrote something, and I know there are people out there who want to keep tabs on my progress. I’m getting anxious about getting this series completed. It’s been a long time in progress. By the time I wrap up the last book, it will have been almost two years to complete. I’m also glad that I managed to get The Traveler trilogy completed and out of my hair. That’s no longer hanging over my head. Once the Abyss series is done, I can turn the Ads back on and advertise that the series is complete. That’s been a complaint from some readers who refuse to start a series that is still in progress. I understand the hesitation. Once they read to the last book, they have to wait for the next one to be written. Fast readers really hate that. I can also tell by the sales dropoff that many have completely forgotten about the series. Only a small number of people have picked up Nathanael (which is on KU now). Between the release of The Encounter in September of last year and the release of Nathanael, which was in May of this year, there was a large gap. That was the time when I was wrapping up the last two books from The Traveler series. It has been quite a long time between books, and I hope never to get into that situation again.
As a reminder, I’m working on book 6, called Hopeless, which will be out in July. Then, I’ll finish the seventh and last book of the series, tentatively called Final Match. That should be out in September, according to my spreadsheet.
Now, back to my writing!
