Escape from the Abyss – Book 2
It’s hard to believe, but I’m still ahead. I suspect that won’t last long with the holiday only a few days away. I have a possible title for the second book. I’ve been noodling on that for some time. Now that I’m deep into the story and I have a theme going, it just kind of popped into my head. The new title will most likely be “Secrets of the Tome.” I’ll still roll that around in my head for a while before I make up my mind. I have to think about things like “Is it genre specific?” or “Is it too long to fit on a book cover?” I think it fits the cover pretty well. I did a dry run to see how it would look and I can make it tall and thin without it being too noticeable. Otherwise, I could just wrap the words.
Currently, I have 71,446 words finished. That is the number of words I scheduled to have finished by the end of the day on Thursday. I’m still not sure if the book will come out to 120k. That’s just a target that I’m shooting for. If it ends up at 90k (I doubt if it’ll be that small), and the story works, then that’s what it’ll be.
I was trying to keep a blogging schedule, but I missed Friday. I’ve had to do a lot of work around the house. Spring and all. But I think I have the heavy work completed, so that won’t take a chunk out of my writing time (though, who knows what else will pop up). I also have to work on a schedule for the newsletter.
So, what happens after book 2? That’s right, I’ve already been contemplating book 3. In fact, I have a few scenes written (that I moved from book 2) and I have the basic outline started. I also have some rough material for book 4, but that’s too far out to plan at this time. I’ll probably go straight from editing book 2 into writing book 4. Might be a little overlap between the two of them. Editing takes its toll and it’s sometimes helpful to write some rough draft when I get worn out from editing. Either way, I have a plan to complete book 2 by the end of June and be well into book 3 by July.
And, that’s all I’m going to reveal for now…
