Progress…

Breaking Records

Yesterday was a holiday for me and I used it to do my writing. I wanted to beat my previous record of 12k in one day, but that didn’t happen. The good news is that I managed to pull off 11.5k. If I had another half hour or an hour, I could have eeked it out. Still, I managed to get Desperate Action up to 40k words (technically it’s at 40,530 words). I still have about 6 or 7 scenes to complete the book. When I’m done with the rough draft, I have a long list of things I need to “fix.” Let’s just say that I made a rough outline and then I went right off the rails. I liked the way it went, so I stuck with my changed story and left the outline behind. Not that I ever religiously follow my outlines.

Cargo Pirates

Cargo Pirates, which is intended to be a short story (number 22) to the MacKenzie Steele series. This story will occur after all the books conclude (right after Alien Surprise Attack). This one has no outline and I intend to follow my nose for the direction of the story. Also known as Writing in the Dark. We’ll see how this goes. I can visualize where it could turn into a larger story (maybe 20k) or even a novel. I’m playing it by ear. So far, I’ve only written 1 scene that is 1,200 words long.

I have a lot of irons in the fire right now, but my main focus is Desperate Action. I’ll be finishing that book first. Daphne and Cargo Pirates will probably come next, just to get at least one of those done (probably both). Then I’m going to watch the sales performance of Desperate Action while I work on the first book of Escape from the Abyss.

Book Progress and Status Page

This is probably confusing for readers, so I’ll put together a permanent web page on this site to track progress on books that I have in progress, plus any covers that are done and a blurb of each book so everyone has a reference. In my head, I know all of these unfinished books and what stories they are trying to tell, but anyone reading this blog will have to look through the history of my posts to see what I’m talking about. That’s a bummer.

So, off I go… to create a web page.
