It’s a 3-day weekend and the weather is going to be atrocious—scattered thunderstorms Saturday through Monday. The upside is that it gives me three days to work on The Demon in Me. I’m down to some of the complicated parts of the story where things have to fit together just right. Details matter and I hate when I get to a scene and realize I had left out something I had set up earlier. Scene details also make a difference. If their comms are being jammed, I can’t have fighters talking clearly to each other on the radios.
That’s the spot where I’m at right now.
I’m up to 87,000 words, but I’m not sure the story is going to make it to 120k. Maybe 100k or a little bit more, so I’m further along than the status says on the side of the blog. I have two empty scenes that need to be completed, then there will be some editing. Just a quick run-through with the editor looking for obvious grammatical stupid stuff. Then it’ll be time for the read-out-loud. If I’m lucky, that’ll be next weekend. As soon as that’s complete, I’ll hit the publish button and it’ll be ready to read.
What’s Next?
I’ve already announced that I would produce book 4 next. That’s a given. I’m also prepping my notes for the second book of The Traveler series. After book 4 of The Abyss, I think I’ll dive into the second Traveler book and get it knocked out. That should set me up to produce books 5 through 8 of The Abyss series next year followed by book 3 of The Traveler series.
Stay tuned.
