These books are based on a young woman who is tired of the cube farm and decides to start her own business transporting goods across the galaxy. Her first life lesson happens when she buys a used transport. We’ve all been through this experience. The salesman talks up a storm about how the ship she’s looking at is tough and reliable. When she arrives at the government inspection site, they collate a massive list of the repairs she needs to perform just to be given a license to fly. Of course, it just goes downhill from there.
Her trusty companion, named RUSTY, is a free addition to the ship that she buys. In fact, the sales guy probably didn’t even know there was an abandoned, broken-down robot in the cabinet of the captain’s quarters. Daphne fixes him up with the intention to use him as free labor. Unfortunately, he comes with his own baggage.
Then there are pirates, mobsters, terrorists, and super-advanced aliens. A police force that can’t seem to solve crimes. RUSTY loses his head a few times… literally.
