My Primary Project
Right now, I’m focused on the first book of The Traveler series, tentatively titled: Desperate Action. I’m currently 21k words into the rough draft, so it’s progressing pretty well. I feel as though I’m off to a slow start. When I look back at my dead days of writing last week, I recalled that I spent some time getting covers on some short stories that I’m going to publish for the first time. These are the second group of ten stories from the MacKenzie Steele series. They are currently available as a collection called Storm Clouds Gathering, but I wanted to also publish them independently. Each will have a paperback copy as well as the EBook. I will be going wide with the distribution eventually. It’s sort of an ongoing project.
In addition to the 20 total short stories that I originally wrote for MacKenzie Steele, I just completed another short story to the series titled: Alien Surprise Attack. I don’t have the cover completed yet and it will appear in the short story series as number 21. It’s about Sergeant Swift and his band of marines that are sent in on a covert mission to blow up a secret chemical weapons factory. This is a 7,000-word short story.
On the Back Burner
In addition to the new traveler book and the MacKenzie Steele series stuff, I’m trying to get published, I have the Daphne book that I’d like to get wrapped up. I already poured almost 17k words into that story. I might as well complete the story and get it published. That one will be a free book. I’ll use it as an enticement to sign up for my email list.
I also have the Escape from the Abyss first book in progress. Once I finish the traveler book, I’ll focus on that one and get it published. At my current rate, I might be able to get it out by the end of the year, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.
I also mentioned that I would rearrange this blog, but that’s a low priority right now. At least the blog and the auto-post to FaceBook work smoothly.
Total Words I wrote this year: 324,312.
