The Demons
I’ve made it through my first pass at editing. Most of the consistency problems have been fixed. I still have a handful of TODOs that need to be attended to. Now that I’m down to the nitty-gritty, it’s taking more time to think about what to fix and how to do it right. Overall, I feel good about this book. Some books don’t give me that warm and fuzzy, but this one has quite the gut punch. I like how the ending ties stuff up but leaves threads open for the second book.
I still need to finish the artwork for the Tome. Just a few details to make it match the descriptions in the first book. Then it’ll be ready for publishing. The EBook version will be free for people that sign up for the newsletter, but I also plan to provide a soft cover version for those that want to put a copy on their bookshelf. It’d be really cool if Amazon had a leather-bound option for books, but it would probably be expensive anyway.
If you’re watching the Books in Progress page, you’ll notice that the word count for this book is already at 130k, which is beyond the 120k I predicted. This is going to be a good-sized book. As I’ve mentioned before, there are a lot of characters and they have “issues” that need to be resolved. None of their issues will be fixed in the first book. Though I have scenes where some of them start to confront their problems and you can see where the story is headed.
So, what’s left? I have to wrap up all of my unfinished wordsmithing and the drawings for the Tome. Then there’s the read-out-loud part of the editing process. After that, I’ll release the first book. I’ll wait until the read-out-loud part is almost done before I make an announcement on the actual release date (because I have no idea how long that’ll take). Keeping my figures crossed, The Demons should be released in April.
