Editing Shadows in the Bloodline

I’m currently knocking out the TODOs. I have eight chapters done and 12 to go. I was fortunate to have a 5-day staycation where I had the time to spend on this book. I’ll probably do some hiking tomorrow, so that will be a dead day for book writing. That won’t affect my deadline, though. I’m still on track to finish by the end of the month. I anticipate that I’ll be done with the TODOs by Tuesday or Wednesday, then I have to do a read-through and final polish. Then there is the Read-Out-Loud part, where my wife and I alternate chapters and read the book. That will take a day or two. We’ll collect notes, and then I’ll fix anything remaining after that and publish the eBook. I’m going to be a little less hasty this time, since I stumbled onto numerous typos on Novis Terminal after I published that book. It took me an extra week to fix all the little problems. I was pretty surprised at how many obvious types, spellings, and grammatical errors the book had after we did a ROL and final check, but there are probably a few other errors in that book that I still missed. If you, the reader, are terribly bothered by an error in any of my books, feel free to email me at frank@galacticcorebooks.com and report it. I’ll be happy to fix it.

My final analysis of the Q Mystery series is complete. The set of five books doesn’t perform at all. I’ll have to give them some love at a later time (maybe around Christmas time or something). It could be any number of things that I’ve mentioned in previous posts. It could be my Ads, the price point, the fact that Elliot Droit has only those five books listed… no telling. I can test new Ads, and I can adjust the price of the books (I’ll probably drop the price today). Those are easy fixes. As far as the limited quantity of books is concerned, I can only test that by adding more books. A costly and possibly risky venture. If I add five more books to the series and they still don’t sell, then I’ve wasted five to six months of my writing time. Right now, the Daphne series is performing, which means I’ll focus on that.

New Series… Maybe?

I’m still thinking about a new series. I want a series that is not part of the Daphne universe, but something along the same lines as that series, which points me in the direction of The Robot Whisperer. It’s going to take me some time to get the first book wrung out. There’s a lot of research stuff I do before I start a series nowadays. I have to make sure the first book can pull in enough readers to sustain a series. Without that, a series will fall flat. Fortunately, there are a lot of readers coming from my Facebook Ads to Novis Terminal. They are causing readers to read the Daphne series as well as other books. That means that I should be able to get readers into The Robot Whisperer who came in to read Daphne and are hungry for more. I’ll stick to the no swear words, no sex, no paranormal, etc. It’ll be light and humorous, falling into the same sub-genre of Sci-Fi that Daphne Blazefire falls into. So, if you’re looking for more of those kinds of books, be sure to sign up for my newsletter to make sure you get a notice when they’re released, or you can go to Amazon and follow the author. Amazon will send a notice when any new book is published under my author name. I’ll try to get more details on The Robot Whisperer when I know something.

Now back to my WIP.
