Our snow banks are still over 6 feet tall, and a major snowstorm is coming Monday. Still, I’m feeling pretty upbeat because I’m into the final editing of The Demons and its accompanying book The Tome of Revelations. I have some artwork that I have to tweak and match the writings in the Tome to the story. I’m also conscious of the fact that the Tome will play into future stories (oh yes, dear reader, I have already set up some stuff in the Tome that will translate into future conflicts). I’ve been working on this book for a long time, but it is due to the fact that I had to write the Tome, do artwork and it’s the first of a series. Once it’s published, I suspect I can crank out book 2 in less time.
Anyway…
Since I’m in a good mood and looking at book sales (or the lack, thereof), I’ve decided to revise all of my book prices downward. This only applies to EBooks because I’ve set the paperbacks and hardbacks to the minimum I can get away with. I don’t get many paperback sales and I’m the only person who has purchased a hardback (for Desperate Action), so I just try to make them the minimum price so it isn’t too high for anyone that likes the feel of a physical book.
All of my short stories are now $1.49 each. That’s half what they used to be. The combined short stories for the Mackenzie Steel series have been reduced to $3.99 (from $6.99). If you want the most bang for the buck, buy the entire set of all books for 4.99 (that’s a killer price and a lot of reading).
The Daphne stories are all reduced to $2.99. I still think there’s an audience out there that would love those books, but they just haven’t found each other.
The first book I wrote, called Crimson Justice is $2.99. It’s more of a thriller set on Mars in the future. It was a story that I wrote while following the NaNoWriMo contest. I blew through 50k words in one month, but it was an ugly story (at first). I spent several months rewriting the entire story, polishing it, then publishing it just to get through the whole process and prove to myself that I can get a book completed and out the door. It also got my business paperwork done and taxes set up, oooh, all that fun stuff. It was a great learning experience and I’m very comfortable with writing a book, getting it finished, and out the door.
Desperate Action will remain at 4.99 for now. Its lack of sales is due to only the first book being published. Something I’ll be rectifying soon since the reviews were so good.
Now it’s back to Scrivener and editing. I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
